Rev. Curtis Ballard Jr.
Senior Pastor
Rev. Curtis Ballard Jr. serves as Senior Pastor of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, providing vision, direction, and leadership to the church community. He was installed as Mount Bethel’s fourth senior pastor on March 16, 2024.
Born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia, Pastor Ballard is the son of Eula and the late Curtis Ballard Sr. He graduated with honors from Savannah State University, Troy University, and the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
Pastor Ballard answered his call to gospel ministry in 2012. He has been licensed and ordained by Amazing Grace World Outreach and Zion Baptist Church. His previous leadership includes serving as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Baptist General Convention of Virginia and as Directional Leader of Faith Formation at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. In these roles, he provided leadership in spiritual formation, discipleship, and leadership development.
Pastor Ballard is married to Dr. TaKenya Ballard, and they are the parents of three sons: Derell, Graceson, and Christopher. He has committed his life and ministry to faith, excellence, and integrity.
Dr. TaKenya Ballard
First Lady
Dr. TaKenya Ballard was born and raised in Broward County and is a graduate of Plantation High School. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University.
Dr. Ballard served Walgreens for more than 20 years, advancing into senior leadership and contributing through multiple stages of the company’s growth and expansion.
She serves Mount Bethel alongside her husband, Rev. Curtis Ballard Jr., as a partner in life and ministry. Dr. Ballard is committed to strengthening families, encouraging women, and serving the church and surrounding community.
Pastor and Dr. Ballard are the parents of three sons: Derell, Graceson, and Christopher. She strives to live as a reflection of God’s faithfulness and to use her life in service to His Kingdom and community.
